I see Form, the choreographed set of movements and postures of Tai Chi, as a way to exemplify the principles that flow through my group teaching, which these days focuses more on flexibility, coordination, mindful movement, balance and stability. Individual students will learn Form and two-person work as well.
The Tai Chi Form I teach is the Cheng Man Ching 37 Posture Short Form. The Form is taught through direct lineage from Cheng Man-Ching to John Eastman to Glyn Williams, with whom I studied for a number of years, and modified through my year studying with Hamid Momtahan. It’s fair to say that I am dedicated to this style of Tai Chi.
I am also a Full Instructor Member of the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain, since 2005. The TCUBG promotes the practice of tai chi and provides information about British tai chi organisations, teachers and classes, equipment suppliers and sources of books, videos and other materials.
Since indoor group classes ceased in March, 2020, I have held weekly Zoom sessions for students who previously attended those classes.
